making a game mechanic good


i've been making MiKe Adventures: 'Round The World for half a year now

there's tons of stuff about it that just bothered me, like how the main mechanic from the game, the speed charge, was incredibly limiting yet fun to use.

so i decided to fix that by making the hydro charge, a dash move that is more than a dash move!

it lets you charge in 4 directions, charge the move to go farther or to just have a small speed burst, and most importantly, let's you bend diagonally as if you could fly!

there's a problem tho: im not the greatest at game design, so I need your help to make this mechanic as fun as possible! give feedback please.
